So let's push ahead a couple of hours now to the festivities and the secret dark surprise which I...

our blackoutsabbath
WOW! Your Blackoutsabbath sounds a lot more eventful than ours.
The two of us spent the day at home, singing songs (to the accompaniment of acoustic guitar), reciting sonnets and we even wrote a song about our feelings on the day. It's called 621 and can be found on youtube - we recorded it a week later, of course.
By the way our toilet survived the experience because we didn't leave candles in there. We just carried them with us.
Anyway our lists are on the fridge and we can't wait to do it all again next year. Thanks for giving us this Rufus.
We got a little late start (shame on me) on Saturday. I was driving my car, running around when I realized that it was Blackoutsabbath that day. Anyway, we immediately turned around to go home, turned off our stereo system, computer, our electric alarm clock, microwave, etc. We did not have many candles but managed to find several; enough for us to read and write. A few hours later, it started to get dark and everything quieted down. I did not realized how much noise lights, computers, clocks, and etc made until they were off. Anyway, my daughter and I reflected on the energy use and thought about how we can conserve. I pledged to be more mindful about my driving route to save gas and change the bulbs finally.
Since my partner had recently passed away, I was concerned that unless I slept through the whole thing, I would never make it since I use my CDs to take my mind off his death. But, it turned out to be a very nice solo reflection of the past and the future and for that and all of your beautiful music, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, Rufus!
Wow, sounds like an eventful night Rufus! Well done and good on you for starting a wave effect... To be quite honest, I am a regular at doing things like this... The last thing I want when I come home from a long hard day at work is lights! I love candles and light them whenever I'm at home alone... I sit on my balcony by candle light and sip red wine and listen to the night... There is nothing better than that.... Accompanied by your music, it is the perfect scene... Thanks Rufus. Love to you and stay true xxxx
Well, it all went very quiet, actually. I spent the afternoon practising origami (because I was to be the "origami master" at some celebration 2 weeks after then). And when evening came, I went to sit in my garden with a good book (Traitor's Moon by Lynn Flewelling to catch up on the story before the sequel was released 3 days later) and I listened to the concert going on somewhere close (because it was La Fête de la Musique; there were concerts all around the place). No "Rufus and Will", but still, it was music...
I didn't use candles because my cats are FAR too interested in fire and I didn't want them to end up like a certain plastic toilet... Instead, I used my dynamo torch. Very useful in occasions such as this !
Now, my list is on the fridge and I'm keeping to it.
Thanks a lot, Rufus, for this great idea !
And, even though I'm a day late: JOYEUX ANNIVERSAIRE !! Et gros bisous à toi et à Jorn.
