Good lord mine came today.

I've fondled it and read it ....oh and I played it too.

It's like a cardboard book that opens out to reveal 2 discs side by side and a pouch to put the cd booklet in.

I really enjoyed listening and watching the commentaries on all of the songs, the one about Leaving for Paris especially amused me. You probably already know this but I didn't. He wrote this song for Moulin Rouge with Nicole Kidman in mind but it wasn't used so he sings it and morphs into Nicole ..... which happens a lot lol.

The orange lounge songs are great too - he does a little interview inbetween some of the songs.

The cd is the uk version with nothing different to the normal cd.

Xshirlx - who posted it to you, I mean - where did you buy it? I ordered mine from PLAY.com and although I received an email to say it's on it's way, they said between 3 and 5 working days. If you got yours from them, that gives me some hope I might get to hear it before the end of it's first week! Art

Hi I guess this is the best place to ask where is the best place to order the Release the Stars Deluxe version from, HMV, PLAY or AMAZON ?

I spent the whole of this afternoon going around all the shops in Bristol looking for it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just waiting it to receive it, I think I'll have it tomorrow or on saturday, I can't continue waiting!! I need to watch that DVD! =)

I got my deluxe CD+DVD at last, and it took about 6 days after shipping, while the Newbury Comics copy which shipped 5 days before release still hasn't arrived *shrug*. My CD also has a scratch on it..not sure what I'm going to do about that yet.

Anyway I was a little surprised it's a gatefold cardboard setup without a protective covering. Do I need to buy a regular UK version for the sleek plastic case?

{I ordered mine on Amazon last week and it says it will be shipped out on May 21. Well, of course I bought it I couldn't wait to hear the album so I went out Tuesday and bought the cd.
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! Can't wait to get the deluxe version with the dvd! I love watching Going to a Town Video! Didn't think I could love Rufus more...but I do!

Hi, i ordered mine from play and my cd was also scratched and i tested it and I'm not ready to love jumps so much! im really annoyed but i have a plan:

I'm going to buy it from a record store near me and then swap the scratched one, then take the scratched one back to the store with the receipt and say 'i opened this and it was scratched, i want my money back' then i don't need to go through the hassle of sending it back to play.com and having to wait for a new one.

Yes, I watched it last night, it's excellent as Rufus explains each song. I particularly like his comments on Tiergarten, with his double meaning of 'Sausages in the park'!!

I assume buying this version won't affect the UK chart position of Release the Stars? The version that's #2 in the midweeks is the regular 1-disc isn't it? Or do they accumulate the sales from all the different versions?

I have mixed views on the DVD. The narrative on the tracks is great - some really lovely moments, though with slightly dodgy editing.

Not quite as keen on the Orange Lounge (no, that's not a mistake, it's different from the Yellow Lounge that we've been discussing on the other board - Rufus has got to stop playing different coloured lounges!) The questions are a bit lame, I thought, and it seemed like old material, though I haven't checked that. But not complaining about having it! :-)

Mine arrived today, unscathed but I certainly wont be doing the Pre Order thing again, I am just pleased I couldnt hold out and had to buy one on Monday.

I got my copy on tuesday morning... I have to say the packaging is verry snazzy n classy :) I love the bit on the back underneath the image of him and Kate which says 'this album is dedicated to my mother who still whispers in my ear that i'm great.'. Lovely :) lol
His most extravagant album packaging yet obviously... the promotion and marketing and general handling of RTS has been top notch...
the DVD is pretty good as well, I enjoy the track commentaries and the sound quality on the Orange Lounge clips is damnn good. The performance of Vibrate is especially nice. :) And its nice to have a version of The Art Teacher with the beat etc.

I'm pretty sure both versions will count towards the one chart placing. I'd be very surprised (and cross!) if they didn't.

Play hadn't despatched my copy by the Monday it was out so I went into town and bought it at Virgin for £15. HMV were selling it for £19.95, which seems ridiculous! Anyway, I have a big thing for cardboard CD cases (yes, I realise only the lamest people have favourite types of CD case!) so I was very pleased it came in one.

The commentary was interesting, even if the editing did distract me, and I really liked the Orange Lounge version of The Art Teacher as I hadn't heard it done that way before.

I pre-ordered my Deluxe version from Play 3 weeks ago. I finally received it today. It was not in any protective packaging, the CD had scratches and fingerprints on it and the DVD was scratched. I know some people had a flyer inside advertising the Judy Garland concert which is released on DVD in the summer, I did not have this.

I phoned Play and told them this, to which they replied that there were happy to exchange it, and they will refund me the postage costs too.

Although I am pleased they were happy to exchange it with no hassle, I am a bit miffed as I refrained from downloading it. Apart from watching / hearing any appearances Rufus has made on telly or radio I have not heard much from the Album at all. I could cry but I am trying to be brave!!

I asked at the store yesterday and they will not get the deluxe edition at all! And the single-cd-edition comes out on the 25th. I'm torn here... buying the single-cd or waiting for my deluxe edition to be delivered mid-june?

how is the track-commentary? 'Cause that's what I want in the first place (on the DVD, I mean).

Anyway: I hate cardboard cases, cause althought they are beautiful, they get weary very quickly. Mine din't even come with a plastic wrap. And the cardboard used is really thin and fragile. Well, I'll keep this copy as a treasure and will wear out the plain version.

Track commentary is good, but each one is disappointingly brief. Unmissable though :-)

The Deluxe Version is a cardboard? :( I don't like these things either... Maybe I'll buy a "normal" version too and let the DVD in it's cardboard... I'll see..


And zhe commentary is short, phil? What is "short"? Not like with the WANTs the whole song running while Rufus is talking? Or is that different?

It's got quite short comments on the songs. Some of them quite funny ( I like when he accepts he is a little bit snob, laughing). The performances in the orange lounge sound great, in a really nice surrounding, but it's just 5 old tracks. The art teacher is much better in its naked -just piano- original version, not with those drums arrangements, which make it a bit too easy, like those drums on classical music for making it popular. Anyway, the whole thing is worth the extra money. It's not the extra DVD at te Philmore in Want TWO deluxe edition, but it' worth the money. One question: Where, apart from i-tunes can one find the Cowboy Song?. Maybe in the forthcomming Japanese deluxe re-edition of the album?. I Do Hate these tactics from record companies. I want everything Rufus has recorded but can't get them in shops unless I do a world tour this summer holidays. It makes me mad.

Yes - the questions are trite in the Orange Lounge and misspelt - "Was it a conscience effort..."? Conscious effort!! CONSCIOUS EFFORT!!! *grin* Makes me laugh as much as the subtitles on an interview with Justin Timberlake, when talkling about the 'feel' of the track Rock Your Body. He said the track had a CHIC vibe and the subtitler typed SHEIK... *rolls eyes*

Oh, yes! I hadn't noticed. I have both the 'deluxe' and CD version (box with rounded corners, in reply to someone somewhere else!) and all three are slightly different colours. In mine, the CD in the deluxe set is darkest, almost red; the DVD a slightly subdued version of same; the 'non-deluxe' (!) CD is a slightly paler version. Hmm. Perhaps the ink was running out when the labels were being printed? ;-)

The CD doesn't have any text on it, but the DVD has a veeery small 'DVD' printed on it. Lucky I had my glasses on!

could someone tell me how much the cd/dvd version costs in the UK? cuz i found it on amazon.com and it's like 40 dollars. i would really rather not spend that much if it's cheaper in pounds (which i really doubt, but i can hope!) thanks!
