Just underneath I Don't Know.. Pretty Things is my favourite Rufus track. It represents to me
1) everything that Rufus 'stands for'
2) everything that Rufus aims to achieve, and present, and preserve in terms of style
3) the combination of everything that I love
4) induces memories and hope and emotions through a fairly simple structure
5) everything that I would love to be able to do.
The piano part is gorgeous. I don't know really who it terms of classical artists it would be comparable to, but most likely Schubert.. im not a huge Schubert listener as yet so I arent sure about that.
The lyrics are equally as beautiful and mesmerising. Its absolutely solid as a song, and reassuring and life-changing if only for a brief minute as a piece of art.
