yes, she is a real person. the song is about the actress natasha lyonne.

she's in american pie, she plays tara reid's friend who tells her she should just go have sex hehe. lots of ppl thought there was something between rufus and natasha when he wrote this song, but... uh no. haha

I really love this song and find it rather haunting- I can see how the lyrics can lead can you to think there was something between them. I would love some further insight into this song- I have never heard Rufus comment on it.

This song is very very beautiful and really sticks in your head (which is always a good thing with Rufus songs).

My middle name is Natasha and sometimes I'm sad enough to kid myself that he's singing about me...*gets coat*
