Prepare your things, dissolve your mind
'Cause I'm your consort, beautiful queen of seventeen

A blood red moon has spared our bed, but not your rivals
Beautiful queen, prepare to reign
No more to hide with I, your faithful consort, by your side

Let streamers fly and cannons roar on your arrival,
Beautiful queen, tomorrow night,
Prepare to walk on anyone her highness ever wants
Entrust in me, you're not alone,
Together we'll wreak havoc on the throne

Entrust in me, you're not alone,
Even though my throne's slightly smaller than yours
Beautiful queen, together we'll wreak havoc, you and me
Together we'll wreak havoc, you and me
Together we'll wreak havoc, you...

Prepare your things, dissolve your mind
'Cause I'm your consort, beautiful queen of seventeen

I love the lyrics

but his voice sounds a little flat on this song
Zion77

hmm

there is something really emotional about this song
the lyrics and musical climax of the song really hit me when i listen to this

a really beautiful track
i think the Rufus of today would have made the song MUCH bigger though
The_Consort

Obviously I like it :)

I guess with my username is a clue that I like this song! It crept up on me actually, wasn't one that immediately stood out.
I disagree that Rufus' voice is flat but definitely subdued/muted. To me it speaks of that feeling in love where you have such mutual feelings with your partner you feel ascended to a higher place even royalty in the metaphor he uses here. I think we've all been there when the person we love does seem the utter perfection and ruler of all in our eyes anyway and the togetherness makes you feel like you can conquer anything, 'wreak havoc' if you will.
The melody builds beautifully with the strings and brass coming in.
Wonderful song, lovely melody amazing lyrics.

Re:

I must admit it is disappointing seeing that someone believes Rufus was flat in this song - he simply isn't. He does, however, use more of his chest voice in this song, without drawing on his signiture nasally tone.

There's something incredibly innocent about the way he sings this song - i love it!
