Not much for me to say either but I adore Martha and how much Rufus and the rest of her family, friends, fans etc. adore her too. And maybe when the html is installed/fixed, some PICTURES of her too as well!
{q a=[[NimbleMarmoset]]} What?! Does she?! Tell me about this!!{/q}
yes. i wish i knew more, but i believe October is the general timeframe for a release date. i'm sure the martha threads on the old forum have more detailed information.
Jason, that was a great way to put it. She is divine. I was lucky enough to see her in Ann Arbor, and my God, she's talented. Can't wait to hear her new album! This is certainly year of the Wainwright's, isn't it?

Her set was too short. >.<
Would anyone like to fill me in on the news regarding her album? I know almost nothing about it!

I can't stop listening to Laurel & Hardy...{/q}
Meh, I know. The songs she played with her mum were beautiful, though. I don't know much about it either, other then it may be an October release. That's about it. And, I've never heard Laurel & Hardy! Where can I find it?

The song Martha played on the Sean Lennon website is called "Bleeding all over You". She's playing Glastonbury by the way, I hope more European dates will be announced soon!!

The first song I ever heard of hers was Lolita. She encapsulated me in a floaty bubble at that moment and I've not managed to pop out of it yet....
At the mo I'm listening to I Will Internalize and Baby....just those two over and over. I love the songs where her sweetness and frustration pop out both together. Adore it.

mee too! fingers crossed!! I've seen her live just once, but I'm pretty sure that I prefer seeing her live instead of listening to her studio albums, because her voice is AMAZING and extremely POWERFUL in her shows!! :) Can't wait for the new album!
Did anyone else hold their breath throughout the whole of her rendition of "Stormy Weather" at L'Olympia in February? . I was transfixed - sat in my second row seat (I know! I know! luckiest girl on earth that night. Apart from the nice RWMBer from Denmark who was sat in front of me! At least, I think it was Denmark........ ) Martha was absolutely awesome!
So, here are the details as far as I know. The show will be at the World Financial Center near Battery Park City. The show is the 26th of June, 7pm and FREE. However, I have yet to call and find out if that means they just let people in until the place is ready to burst (because - duh! - it's Matha, it will be!), or if you still need to get a ticket.
But WOO-HOO! Free Martha, and summer in the city. Ah.....
Thanks for the info- Last year it was free but you had to get your tickets at certain Starbucks locations. I think it was a couple of days before the show.

Thaaaat's right! I was on the website and even on the phone dying to get ahold of someone to find out ticket informtion. It's all coming back to me now...
please sign the petition if you want to see martha in europe!{/q}
Martha cancelled because of Kate's (Her mother's) illness and surgery. It's nice to want her to play concerts, but she did cancel for a really good reason.
Faaaaab. Martha looked lurvly in a short sleeved, v-neck navy dress with print around the hem and arms. Hair blond and feathered to the max and being blown oh-so-dramatically (though a bit annoyingly - it seemed to be in Martha's way a bit...) by the breeze coming off the water. She closed the show and they definitely saved the best for last. :)
The rest of the performers (all boys!) Hm....) were equally as delightful and I wouldn't think twice about attending one of their shows. Particularly Chris Thile who is adorable to the max. Check him out if you ever get a chance!
Martha said she's finishing up her album and hopes to have in out in January! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I think all but a few of the seats were filled, but because it was outside in the plaza, there were a gabillion places one could stand or sit and hear/see the show. I felt like everyone got a good, positive response, and I hope the performers felt the love! ;D
Yeah. It was pretty hot and nasty. I do believe there was a puddle underneath me from walking there - and I only had a 30 minute or so walk!
A great spot - if anyone has a chance to see a show there at another time, when the weather is more agreeable, I highly recommend it!
empty seats?! yikes I should have gone-thanks for the review on the venue I think there are some other shows I would like to see this summer Glad everyone had a good time
I just saw Sean Lennon at the Montreal Jazz Festival, and Martha and her mom made a surprise apparence during the encore and sang the beach boys' Surfer Girl with Sean Lennon. Pretty cool!

Yeah, crazy, eh?! I'm sure it was because of the weather - pretty brutal to be outside, in direct sunlight for two hours. Ah well, only for the Wainwrights! (And McGarrigles, and Thompsons, and..... ;P)
I've just listened to Martha sing "Bye Bye Blackbird" and it is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. This could very well be, at least in my opinion, the best rendition of it ever.
It's a live version - does anyone know from where and who accompanied her on piano?

It was recorded live at the Glenn Gould Theatre for the CBC radio show "Vinyl Cafe" on November 4, 2000. Well, that's when it was broadcast, I'm not sure when it was recorded.
i haven't listened to martha much until recently, even though i greatly enjoy listening to her sing with rufus! love the song with snow patrol as well! and today i've just had BMFA running around my head! lol. greatness! just like rufus, i can hear bits of both loudon and kate in martha's voice when she sings. love that. :)

Yes. Martha did a Jaw-drop-and-stay-drop-pingly awesome Stormy Weather (at the Hollywood Bowl's Rufus Rufus Rufus).
