Have you been to the cinema recently? What did you see and what did you think of it?

Last movie I saw was 'Spiderman 3'. It was okay. Special effects were spectacular as always. But wow, was it loud in there! I'm sure my ears were ringing afterwards. Uhhhhhhhhhhh.......does that mean I'm turning into a cranky old lady??

Looking forward to the next 'Harry Potter' movie! ;-)

movies

I saw "Stranger Than Fiction" last night which I thought was excellent, visually it was quite a beautiful movie, and such lovely characters. Will Ferrell was in it but for once he was playing the straight man.
It reminded me of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", but more simplistic.
Highly recommended.

Summer is not my favourite time for movies but...

I did get dragged out to see Spiderman 3, Pirates 3 and Knocked Up.

Spiderman 3 got slagged a little too much, imo. Perhaps because I'm female I didn't mind the problems with the villains and how they deviated from the comic. Never read a comic book in my life. I thought it did a good job fleshing out the three main characters, had humour and some heart in it. I took my 10 yr old son, who is one of the best dates ever and we had a good time.

Pirates was only really good for the eye candy.
It was really long and I don't know...after the first one it was all downhill for me.

Knocked Up was funny to a point but I, unlike many others, don't have a problem with sexual humour. I have a problem with drug humour in film and that was actually offensive to me.

I'm looking forward to more thoughtful fare. Just saw a long promo for Evening with Meryl Streep and that's more my speed.

I quite enjoyed that film. I took a few teens and they were expecting typical Will Ferrell film and were disappointed.
I thought it was well-written and I enjoyed watching Ferrell pull off the subtleties.
Loved Maggie Gyllenhaal and Emma Thompson and of course, Spoon's contribution to the soundtrack helped shape this quirky film.
I recommend that film to others, too.

AVOID!!!

Don't ever see Wedding Daze, an ex girlfriend dragged me along, and it made the experience even more unpleasant!!!

Aaargh.

I saw Pirates 3, and of course loved it. ;)

Movies

Been to see La Vie En Rose today.

hummmn, not really sure, although the music and her voice is fantastic, it seemed that Edith Piaf had a really rough upbringing, but i could not warm to her character.

Although the little girl who played Edith as a child was very good,It's not a film I would see again or recommend anyone to see.
Emamek

What?

I loved La vie en Rose! Especially since everyone got an extra free ticket after the film because two people started to argue loudly about a seat in the begining so the staff had to stop the film for a while and sort it out.

I saw Spider-man 3 a while ago and loved it, but Pirates 3 I didn't like so much. It was pretty good, but since I really loved the first film and don“t think that neither the second nor the third measures up to it, I was a bit disappointed.

The best movie I have seen so far is Zwartboek (called blackbook in the states) It is a period piece and very sad, heartbreaking it leaves you with an odd feeling. you only figure out the greatness of the movie after you leave, it takes time to digest.

I don't get to the cinema often but I just attack my DVD colection frequently! I just re-watched Brazil properly and it truly is amazing!

Movies

I really want to see Ratatouille! It looks adorable!

I rented Bridge to Terebithia last week... I love that movie. I saw it in the theater when it came out and I read the book in 7th grade. For some reason I'm attracted to sad stories. Is that weird? I've always been that way.

Movies

I watched Rain Man again after, like, seven years.

"I'm an excellent driver."

LOL. I just love that.

I also watched Garden State on TV recently, and it has a great soundtrack.

The most recent film I saw at the cinema is Spiderman 3. Omgsh, Harry died ): that's so sad waah. Ghaha, emo Spidey was so...awkward.

Rocky horror is just brilliant!!! I adore Richard O'Brien! I think he's great! Tim Curry is very underrated as an actor I reckon. He was supposedly brilliant in Spamalot the musical!

I think I need to watch more James Spader films!

Rocky Horror is amazing. I saw it at the cinema last halloween and it was brilliant, we all did the Time Warp in the aisle!

The last film I saw... Die Hard 4.0 (aka Live Free Or Die Hard) and I thought it was really good. Far fetched but better than a lot of action films, MI:3 springs to mind and it's got Timothy Olyphant so, well, bonus.

Live Free or Die Hard

Saw that Thursday night and went mostly for Timothy Olyphant myself. :)

It was a fun action film. Not a lot of blood but lots of explosions and crashes with creativity. It oozed a little testosterone but I liked that Timothy 's villain wasn't a mustache twirler but a more cerebral, white collar type and Justin Long's techie character balanced the Bruce Willis machismo. Good summer fun and I'm not normally into that sort of thing.

Re: Live Free or Die Hard

It's nice to see Olyphant as a baddie, again. I'm gonna have to check out imdb and see what else he's been in. i know Scream 2 which was fun.

Ohhh and Die Hard 4 had the added bonus of Kevin Smith:)

harry potter!

last movie i saw was order of the phoenix on the day it came out cuz i'm also a harry potter freak! lol. it was very entertaining, even if it was very rushed and a fair few things were changed around from the book, but obviously i won't gripe about that since it's to be expected. great fight scenes with the wand dueling etc and the kids' acting just keeps getting better with each film! also, can't wait for the book!! 3 days!!!

I'm pleased I'm not the only one to feel like this for James Spader...I think he has been wrongly neglected by hollywood! Soooo sexy!

Evan Almighty and The Simpsons

Recently saw 'Evan Almighty' and 'The Simpsons' at the cinema. 'Evan Almighty' was funny in some places but it really didn't live up to Bruce Almighty (which I thought was brilliant). 'The Simpsons', however, was hilarious and I'd recommend it to anyone!
Emamek

so good

I recently saw Children of Men and it completely blew me away! I think it has to be the best movie I've seen this year. If you haven't yet seen it, see it! It's just incredibly good, according to me anyway. Wow.
