Dear friends and family:
Tonight I sit by the fireplace of Garden Court, the McGarrigle family ancestral home in St-Sauveur des Monts, Quebec. On one hand I am utterly devastated by what's happened to my mother, but on the other I am so incredibly inspired and in awe of the love and support our family has received from all over the world. Hearing and reading of the tremendous impact she had on so many people's lives has been truly amazing! And let me tell you (sorry, mom), this woman was no busy body! It seems that by just being herself and doing what she loved to do, be it music, bringing up her children, dressing up in amazing outfits or most importantly, having compassion for the world around her, she struck a chord (many times literally!) and the universe responded in kind. Thank you so much for all of the kind words and please know that it has vastly helped us in this tragic time.

When inevitably I read today in the papers that my mother lost her battle with cancer last night, I am filled with an immense desire to add that this battle, though lost, was tremendously fruitful during these last three and a half years of her life....
