Just a little update from your favorite Rufus, who is sitting at the airport on his way to Los Angeles. New York Town Hall was an amazing experience. The “Hallelujah” chorus sounded better than ever. Thank you so very very much to everyone who joined me on stage to help support the recording of Prima Donna. We are also making some good progress with talking to various record companies about releasing the recording and also the concert tour that I would love to do around the release.
Jorn and I spent the weekend in Montauk before the New York show and found a whole bunch of the white rubber wedding bracelets that we gave to each of the guests at the wedding and also the wedding programs. Since this was the most special day in our lives and since this is probably the most special project that I have embarked on we both felt it would be okay to share the ones that were left over from August 23rd 2012 with you and make them part of the exclusives on the Prima Donna Pledge Music campaign. Both Jorn and I still wear our bracelets as it was not only a very special day for the two of us but such incredible fun and being surrounded by so many people one cares about was truly amazing. An orchestra played some excerpts from Prima Donna when we walked down the aisle, they also played the Meditation from the opera Thais which is one of Kate’s favorite pieces who of course was sorely missed that beautiful August day and Martha sang “How deep is the Ocean” by the great Irving Berlin.
I also decided to part with two stage outfits. The one that Viktor and Rolf gave me that I wore pretty much on the entire European leg of the “Best of” tour which you have seen on stage probably many times and an outfit that was given to me by the late Alexander McQueen that I wore on stage many times and the last time at Sting’s 60th birthday at the Beacon Theater in New York. It was a pretty incredible night with Lady Gaga, Herbie Hancock, Billy Joel all performing. I sang “Wrapped around your Finger” and there is a nice video here. They are both still in good shape, fit me perfectly (you guys know my size, right?) and yes, they are coming dry-cleaned.
Now, I do hope that there will be some more people signing up for the “Hallelujah” chorus in LA and San Francisco. Don’t be shy. I love to have my supporters in back of me and helping me through that song. If anyone filmed the entire “Hallelujah at Town Hall, could you send me a link as we did not get a great video of it.
Sorry, have to stop typing along, the doors are closing and the plane is about to take off. And Happy Passover and Easter everyone!!!
